12 Fresh Herbs and Their Healing Powers

Everyone knows that it's good to eat a lot of fresh vegetables, and fruits. It's also good to know about the healing power of fresh herbs so that you can incorporate them into your diet too.

This post is a "two-parter" - one part about the healing power of fresh herb and the other party is the real deal about "regular" fresh produce at your local U.S. grocery store.

These 12 fresh herbs and their healing powers are as important to know about as it is to know about the great risk you encounter when you eat non-organic, unapproved USDA chemically treated fruits and vegetables that are stocked in every grocery store in America. These days it's "Eat At Your Own Risk", as everything we buy not marked "Organic" is poison; food that has been chemically grown.

"Frankenfoods" (non-organic, GMO: Genetically Modified Organism foods) are something I go way out of my way to avoid, because all fruits and vegetables aren't good for you. Especially when your goal is to eat truly healthy foods.

I strongly suggest you consider the things I've listed below when you shop at the grocery store for healthy food to feed yourself and your family...

  • When you were a kid, were the fruits and vegetables your mom bought at the grocery store perfectly shaped and so beautiful they didn't look real?
  • When you ate fresh, home garden grown tomatoes, could you actually taste them?
  • Did Diet Coke exist when you were a kid?
  • Do you remember cancer being a predominate disease that ran rampant throughout families; breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, and other types of cancer as well?
  • Did women have infertility issues back then, like so many women do today?

Probably not, which is something to think about, isn't it? I'm just sayin'... y'know? I mean, you're going to buy what you want to buy anyway - irregardless of anything I say, as well you should. But all I know is this: I'm accountable for what I know. And, to purposely fail to mention what I know would be criminal and wrong. Because, you see... this pertains to the health of you and your family. Okay?

Okay. So, if you didn't understand the health risks involved in eating non-organic, GMO foods (which is everything in the produce section that is not marked "Organic" at your favorite local grocery store), now you know. So it's up to you to make the right choice for the health and safety of yourself and your loved ones, just like I do.

Sadly, food has become dangerous. Because there is something foreign in it that wasn't there before.

The business woman you see on the video screen below, Robyn O'Brien, told people... "Please don't tell me what to eat and don't tell me what to feed my kids", until... something bad happened.

So, the next time you're at the grocery store... now knowing this, you have some things to think about and strongly consider. Right?

The Healing Power of 12 Herbs

1.) Basil - makes a delicious addition to just about any dish and has been used even in ice cream, fresh basil is superb used against rheumatic problems and to take away tummy (stomach) pains.

2.) Bay Leaves - often used dried, bay leaves are an herb used in many soup recipes. They add wonderful flavor to Chicken and Dumplings and are great to use externally on bruises and sprains. Who knew that? Right?

3.) Caraway (or Caraway Seeds) - very distinctive in flavor (people usually either really like it or they don't),  caraway is a good cold preventative, and helps with throat infections and upset stomachs.

4.) Chamomile - a great soother and delicious tea, chamomile helps to combat and prevent earaches, headaches, and toothaches too.

5.) Chervil - not as widely used, chervil has been thought to act somewhat like a diuretic and lower blood pressure too.

6.) Chives - known to be an appetite enhancing herb. I didn't know that, did you?

7.) Cilantro - commonly known to be used in many Mexican recipes, cilantro is good for your digestion.

8.) Fennel - often used in baked goods, fennel is a natural appetite stimulant.

9.) Lavender - an antidepressant aromatherapy elixir, it helps lower blood pressure.

10.) Lemon Balm - add this to your diet when you feel flu-ish; it aids against nausea, treats fever, and helps with poor digestion too.

11.) Parsley - I've heard this for years, "It helps your breath smell good", and it's true - it does that.

12.) Thyme - an antibacterial and antiseptic expectorant that is good to gargle your throat with.

Buy organic and live longer.

I do this... I write to help to create to opportunities for all of you to pursue your passion to have parties without regard to economic constraints.

I think if we keep talking about the cost of parties (I blog, you write comments), together, maybe we can break down some of the party industry price barriers and shame some of the people who've taken your money and delivered a poor quality product right into growing a conscious and treating you right (nice thought, isn't it?).

Opportunities to be inspired about parties are everywhere. Yet, people looking out for your wallet are few and far between. My goal is to inspire you, causing you to question the way things are that have been the status quo for too long. When we stand together and speak up, we can be a powerful force.

Let's keep the conversation of change going. Because in the sea of everyone talking, one voice is a whisper... several voices are a scream.

Leave a comment and share your thoughts, ideas and suggestions below. Remember to be as specific as possible because what you have to say helps us all.

Always... be encouraged and encourage others too,

“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” - Michelangelo

I'm Carlo. And this is my party truth.

I'm an off-premise catering evangelist/outlaw. I'm a passionista. I'm a paradox. I love when a client hires me to oversee their entire event, from start to finish - because I'm an event planner too.

I'm proud to be mom to Petey Wheatstraw, "the devil's son-in-law" - the best damn Chihuahua North of Mexico. I grew up in Rochester, Michigan. I currently live deep in the heart of Texas. And boy, do I ever miss Xochimilco Super Nachos, the fragrance of Fall and fresh cider and donuts at Paint Creek Cider Mill, and eating a Detroit Lafayette Coney Island when the mood hits me.

It's cool of you to stop by. And you know what's even better? Finding out what you have to say! Hit me up with a comment. Hang with me on Twitter . Or, connect with me using the FB gadget or G+ button on the sidebar. For real, I'd be really honored if you'd stop and give me a moment of your time - by clicking on either one. If you want to ask me anything or want to leave a comment, you know the drill; "Contact".

I like people. Especially, people who want the party truth. Talk to me.
