Party Decor Spots Fabulous Polka Dots

wine glass polka dotsParty decor spots fabulous polka dots in a fantastic way that will liven up your party style, making the look of your special event extremely memorable.

Imagine...

With your mind spinning, full of delicious cuisine ideas and thoughts - see yourself standing back, making your final assessment; happy that you've accomplished your goal.

Now your party is "polka dot down".

And, with your hands on your hips and your eyes cast downward, you take in the creative beauty of your lush hors d'ourves buffet table. It's chock full of delicious cuisine and garnished with gorgeous decor consisting of lush fresh green plant foliage that offsets what would've been boring and bland.

All of this is placed atop of the stand-out statement that you're making, starting with the creative idea that you've chosen a fun-inspired black and white polka dot table cloth. Perfect!

Former Queer Eye for the Straight Guy television star, Carson Kressley, would probably say... "Jushze" it up, honey! The look of your party food displayed with bread in bread baskets of various sizes filled with artisan breads, lined with smaller polka dot patterned napkins in the exact polka dot "opposite" would look great.

What in the heck does polka dot "opposite" mean?

Well, if you've chosen black dots on a white background, then flip it. Line your bread (or silverware, for that matter) baskets with polka dot patterned napkins that have white dots on a black background, that are smaller than the dots on your table cloth or table runner. You can envision it, can't you? I can. Love it.

PD's as we call them, otherwise called polka dots, are the 2012 Spring and Summer definite party trend "party-do".

Dots are happy and appealing for any type of festive party. They're the new party neutral "trick" that you can pull out of your hat, using this look for Grandma or Grandpa's fun filled 50th wedding anniversary or a child's birthday party.

Answer something for me about anniversary party table decorations.

Someone please tell me why so many people choose typical, dreary (because we've only seen it 1000 times), yawn-inspired, "traditional" gold and silver anniversary party decor for such an occasion? Grandma and Grandpa aren't dead, for crying out loud. If they were (deceased), they would likely roll over in their graves - out of boredom, themselves.

"Go polka" (dots) for any party.

Polka dots are lighthearted and fun, helping to make any party a big hit - especially a kiddie party. When you throw a child's birthday party, break away from the current "mold". Keep your party from having that cookie-cutter, "Dora-the-Explorer-common" running theme. We've all seen the "Dora" look 1000 times too - right? Every other kiddie party, it seems - looks just like the next one. Bor. Ing.

Be different. Incorporate a polka dot party decor theme anytime - even after the Spring and Summer seasons.

Change your color them but continue to "dot it up" with navy blue and white dotted table cloths. Or, choose black and gray. Any color you choose, you can't go wrong. When it's the Christmas or New Year's Eve holiday party season, make the ultimate dotted holiday party statement by choosing metallic polka dotted table runners. Wow! Tres chic!

What are some examples of the best polka dot accent pieces?

We love mirror-glass shiny patent leather anything. Stripes, paisley patterns, and floral prints in the same color scheme as yiur polka dot selection can work really well too. The thing is, you have a good design or style aesthetic, then you likely trust yourself to get it right - choosing patterns and shapes to compliment your polka dotted theme that works.

If you're unsure about getting it right, take swatches to a design consultant. Check with someone in the design department at a furniture store, like Thomasville or Ethan Allen. If they consent to help you, be sure to ask all of your questions while you're there. Unless you're buying some of their gorgeously made furniture - remember, they're doing you a favor. Don't abuse that.
