The Everyday Luxury of Intelligent Parties

Intelligent Parties can save you money.

Intelligent Parties are of an intelligent design theory and feature "everyday luxury" items - meaning: using things like your bone china (and other items) you don't normally pull out of storage and use, except during the holiday season. And, that's tacky.

Unintelligent predictability is passe

When you're a "freak control"; hesitantly using things for your party that, in all honesty - if you don't use them, they will definitely be used by someone else long after you're dead and gone.

And wouldn't that be a hoot? You know what they say... Murphy's Law: it would be someone that you don't like - using your things, as your punishment for not using your "good stuff".

Use pieces, like old small appliances, that most people normally wouldn't use.

Make the "major gag" your focal point on your buffet table, displaying a well-conditioned old toaster, or a waffle iron.

There's nothing crazy or crass about revisiting the past. In fact, doing so denotes a positive vote toward your heritage and of the good old days and times of yesteryear gone by.

Create your own Intelligent Party artisan corner

Act like a professional event planner and celebrate your family's rich history. Make a buffet table (or party or wedding reception VIP area) backdrop by covering the wall with one or two of your grandmother's old quilts.

Play music reminiscent of your special artisan corner theme. Serve old-time everyday food, serving cuisine made from recipes passed down from generation-to-generation. Wear an apron because remember, back in the day, older women always wore aprons.

A very, very smart party host incorporates the Intelligent Party concept

Accessibility to "what's old is new again" thinking is the name of the game. Being sensitive and sentimental about every item you're not willing to use, yet most certainly own, isn't only tacky - but, it's a complete waste of time. Pull out your old, good stuff and use it! Saving money on rental china and silverware is the smartest way to go. Besides, your guests will probably call you a true party decor innovator.

Incorporating "everyday luxury" doesn't mean it's strange or weird to use special antique serving bowls or other key old pieces. Using and sharing the history of your favorite Aunt Margret's antique china serving bowl, for example, serves two purposes: accomplishing the goal of practicality by using something pretty and useful and allowing you the chance to recite the story about the day you acquired the bowl - adding other stories that share the rich history of it's origin as well.

An Intelligent Party is like a work of art

Again, an Intelligent Party = everyday luxury = your special work of art.

Your guests will see the uniqueness of your party decor style sensibilities and know that they can't copy you verbatim. Because when they go to the store, they will never find your party decor pieces on the racks.

Intelligent Party mission accomplished.

I'm Carlo. And this is my party truth.

I'm an off-premise catering evangelist/outlaw. I'm a passionista. I'm a paradox. I love when a client hires me to oversee their entire event, from start to finish - because I'm an event planner too.

I'm proud to be mom to Petey Wheatstraw, "the devil's son-in-law" - the best damn Chihuahua North of Mexico. I grew up in Rochester, Michigan. I currently live deep in the heart of Texas. And boy, do I ever miss Xochimilco Super Nachos, the fragrance of Fall and fresh cider and donuts at Paint Creek Cider Mill, and eating a Detroit Lafayette Coney Island when the mood hits me.

It's cool of you to stop by. And you know what's even better? Finding out what you have to say! Hit me up with a comment. Hang with me on Twitter (three accounts, you choose; @TheCaterHater, @CarloAtYourServ, or @CarloAtYourSer2). Or, connect with me using the FB gadget or G+ button on the sidebar. For real, I'd be honored if you'd click on either one. If you want to ask me anything or want to leave a comment, you know the drill; "Contact".

I like people. Especially, people who want the party truth. Talk to me.
