Anyone with a passing interest in parties knows that they go back almost as far as the beginning of time. But, the best thing about planning parties is that they give you an opportunity to be creative.
When you become a "party designer" your goal is to keep your ideas moving - and if you're smart, to recognize the importance of the strong trends in art.
The party world isn't considered conservative. In the party world - as in the art world, you have to be consistent, look outward, and have a good degree of artistic courage.
Playing with party-styles and being sensitive to party trends is just part of the job. The more party decor persona's you can find within yourself, the more party decor concepts you'll be able to pull ideas from. So, go with your gut feelings and dare to stick with a party idea that might take you out of your comfort zone, even if it isn't understood and doesn't catch on right away.
I've learned that it takes time to change the minds of some people. But what's fun is that you can be creative, even if you're misunderstood. Because parties are so much - they're both creativity and an almost constant change - so, being in tune with your guests, or if you're a professional party or event planner, being in tune with your client, is what you can depend on to make it all worthwhile.

I'm an off-premise catering evangelist/outlaw. I'm a passionista. I'm a paradox. I love when a client hires me to oversee their entire event, from start to finish - because I'm an event planner too.
I'm proud to be mom to Petey Wheatstraw, "the devil's son-in-law" - the best damn Chihuahua North of Mexico. I grew up in Rochester, Michigan. I currently live deep in the heart of Texas. And boy, do I ever miss Xochimilco Super Nachos, the fragrance of Fall and fresh cider and donuts at Paint Creek Cider Mill, and eating a Detroit Lafayette Coney Island when the mood hits me.
It's cool of you to stop by. And you know what's even better? Finding out what you have to say! Hit me up with a comment. Hang with me on Twitter (three accounts, you choose; @TheCaterHater, @CarloAtYourServ, or @CarloAtYourSer2). Or, connect with me using the FB gadget or G+ button on the sidebar. For real, I'd be honored if you'd click on either one.
If you want to ask me anything or want to leave a comment, you know the drill; "Contact".
I like people. Especially, people who want the party truth. Talk to me.
