Reasons for throwing a party can be irrational. And, for some people, planning a party or wedding reception can cause them to act irrational. I bet several people will agree with that. People act different when it comes to planning a wedding or a party.
Men and women are different. We can all agree on that.
So when they're in the planning stage it's natural to expect two different types of everything, especially the look of the party, when each one is planned by a person of each sex.
Men and women have been fighting each other since the earth began. What it seems like we forget, though, is that a good party (or wedding reception) can be planned by people just as irrational as a people who unfortunately end up planning a bad party. And we should be equally motivated to try to understand why that is.
Spend 5 minutes with two or three couples in the midst of planning a party or their wedding reception and you'll find out just that; how the different sexes apply their logic and intellect to sort out their irrational need to choose certain "extras", food and beverages, and everything else you can think of, for their party.
If you're one half of the couple planning a wedding reception or party, the other half can drive you nuts.
If you professionally plan parties and special events, any couple can drive you nuts. Maybe they need couples/party therapy. All I know is, it's a trip to be inside people's party planning process with them. The eye rolling oftentimes tells the true story.
Most women's passion for a party and wedding invitations, their wedding location, party favors and and gift bags, music that will be played at their party or wedding song, and matchy-matchy colors that simply have to match wedding dresses, wedding flowers and dinner table centerpieces is not completely understood as an expression for the need to control, anymore than a guy's excitement for not giving a damn is understood as his truth that he doesn't care (about the aesthetics). Just make sure the food and wedding cake is good. Both sexes spending money, while planning a party can get seriously irrational.
A well planned party - to a woman - is what sports are to a man, y'all.
Sure, ultimately it's party and wedding madness. It's called being passionate about something we can't explain.

I'm an off-premise catering evangelist/outlaw. I'm a passionista. I'm a paradox. I love when a client hires me to oversee their entire event, from start to finish - because I'm an event planner too.
I'm proud to be mom to Petey Wheatstraw, "the devil's son-in-law" - the best damn Chihuahua North of Mexico. I grew up in Rochester, Michigan. I currently live deep in the heart of Texas. And boy, do I ever miss Xochimilco Super Nachos, the fragrance of Fall and fresh cider and donuts at Paint Creek Cider Mill, and eating a Detroit Lafayette Coney Island when the mood hits me.
It's cool of you to stop by. And you know what's even better? Finding out what you have to say! Hit me up with a comment. Hang with me on Twitter (three accounts, you choose; @TheCaterHater, @CarloAtYourServ, or @CarloAtYourSer2). Or, connect with me using the FB gadget or G+ button on the sidebar. For real, I'd be honored if you'd click on either one.
If you want to ask me anything or want to leave a comment, you know the drill; "Contact".
I like people. Especially, people who want the party truth. Talk to me.
