If I'm on the Net, when I'm not here, I'm probably over at Twitter.
The other day when I was at Twitter, I was talking to a friend of mine, @PureNourishment. After the two of us exchanged well wishes for the New Year, something that she said, that maybe didn't seem like anything special to her, was amplified for me.
She simply said, "Embrace the decade."
As simple as that directive may sound - it's not the same old contrite thing as, "Have a great day!".
The word embrace is sexy. And weighty.
One of the meanings of the word embrace is: "to make use of something: to welcome and take advantage of something eagerly or willingly - embrace an opportunity".
So "Embrace the decade". Got it. Right.
Haven't they said for years that when you're on the right track, the opposition will always try to tear you down?
And didn't you find out a long time ago that they'll scold you for being uniquely YOU? You know they will. Especially when you're not seeking their approval and trying to to be like them (which is oftentimes miserable)?
It's also been said that they will try to tell you what you should or shouldn't say, and how they think you should behave.
Remember that I said this...
Find people who support you for hating anything that reminds you of a negative past. Spend time with those who allow you the space to be the wonderful and unique, beautiful human being that you are. Because here's the thing...
You'll find support right here, for trying to do anything different - certainly anything that will improve your station in life.
I'll always support tuning "them" out.
You'll never get "there" listening to "them". Because that's why you're not "there" now, and why you're working on changing things that will actually get you there, right?
When you feel annoyed or picked on by the opposition who, whether they mean it or not, are tearing you down - turn around and say, 'watch me'.
