Planning the perfect honeymoon is, besides your wedding day, the most romantic time of your life. Making it memorable, of course, is your goal. Although the honeymoon concept has evolved over time, it still remains, to this day, the time for you and your significant other to celebrate the beginning of your lives together.
Have you ever wondered where the term "honeymoon" comes from?
The honeymoon - also known as the month of sweetness - has it's origins in an early Teuton custom. The newly wed couple was required to drink a fermented honey beverage, known as mead or metheglin, for 30 days immediately after their wedding day or at least until the moon was no longer full (which ever came first).
The idea behind the custom is that the drink is supposed to relax the two people, as a couple. The honey-based drink was the ancient symbol of life, health and fertility. Not unlike times before, the honeymoon is the period of time set aside by the newlywed couple so that they can quietly celebrate their love and union.
Most couples look forward to the getaway aspects of their honeymoon night. After months of wedding planning and meetings, family and friend suggestions, and everything else - it will be nice for the two of you to get away.
There are lots of great honeymoon destinations, but no matter where they've decided to go - they leave straight from the wedding reception, going from their joyous celebration shared with everyone to their private celebration shared amongst the two of them. How you depart from your reception can be done with drama and style, or can be the more typical, kissing loved ones as you say goodbye. If you like high style and lots of drama, leave by horse and buggy, bicycles or some type of fancy motor launch, or a helicopter or hot-air balloon.
However you decide to leave, and whatever popular honeymoon destination you may decide to visit - your true adventure begins with your honeymoon and whatever happens afterward that lies ahead.
Best wishes and may you have a romantic honeymoon! Read Cater-Hater for more honeymoon ideas. Live the high life - enjoy your luxurious honeymoon destination in your honeymoon villa or honeymoon suite!

I'm an off-premise catering evangelist/outlaw. I'm a passionista. I'm a paradox. I love when a client hires me to oversee their entire event, from start to finish - because I'm an event planner too.
I'm proud to be mom to Petey Wheatstraw, "the devil's son-in-law" - the best damn Chihuahua North of Mexico. I grew up in Rochester, Michigan. I currently live deep in the heart of Texas. And boy, do I ever miss Xochimilco Super Nachos, the fragrance of Fall and fresh cider and donuts at Paint Creek Cider Mill, and eating a Detroit Lafayette Coney Island when the mood hits me.
It's cool of you to stop by. And you know what's even better? Finding out what you have to say! Hit me up with a comment. Hang with me on Twitter (three accounts, you choose; @TheCaterHater, @CarloAtYourServ, or @CarloAtYourSer2). Or, connect with me using the FB gadget or G+ button on the sidebar. For real, I'd be honored if you'd click on either one.
If you want to ask me anything or want to leave a comment, you know the drill; "Contact".
I like people. Especially, people who want the party truth. Talk to me.
