Parties Love Christmas

candle on the christmas tree

Just glance at the front cover of most of the magazines on the newsstand.

When it comes to Christmas, magazine covers are pushovers for tradition. As are most of the parties that are planned, catered, and hosted at the end of the year.

Parties love Christmas!

We - you and especially I, help parties to celebrate their love for Christmas. Parties like it when we wear our red and green finery, pack holiday gifts in our traditional boxes and ornaments, trim our homes with our garland, and on and on.

But there's something irresistible about a house filled with warm, neutral textures of fabrics. Like tweeds and burlap, with lush greenery and shimmering gold holiday appointments taking their place - making their holiday statement on the spot, alongside a Yuletide tree.

Pinning neutrals with
traditional decorative holiday cheer is different. Because it's different, it's certainly more fun. For me, anyway.

I've done my traditional, matchy-matchy way too many times.
I'll explore something new, something that will make me have to work a little harder this year.

No paint by-the-numbers Christmas for me this year, thankyouverymuch.

It's going to be pared down and as sophisticated as I can make it. Without spending a penny on anything new. It's not going to be all kitschy, and holiday button 'n bows cute.

Parties love Christmas, remember? So I'm sure they won't mind that it's monochromaticneutrality with tiny white lights this year for me.

You have to listen, in your heart. Do you hear them? They're singing, "Par-ties love Christmas! Par-ties love Christmas!"

Open your heart. Sing with them.
Be childlike in spirit.
Dance in wonderment. They said, don't be so literal.

Have fun. Be silly. And laugh all day.

Parties love Christmas. They think you're crazy, because so many of you won't have fun with them.
Or you begrudgingly "have fun" with them, they said.

You're still here. And it's alright if you don't have a lot of money this year. Parties love Christmas and they will celebrate just that, everywhere - with or without you; in hospitals, on the street corners with the homeless. Everywhere!

Parties make the rules. And we're supposed to follow.
They said - "Be joyous, be happy. Sing! Dance!"

They said, "Go celebrate. It's Christmas!"

I'm Carlo. And this is my party truth.

I'm an off-premise catering evangelist/outlaw. I'm a passionista. I'm a paradox. I love when a client hires me to oversee their entire event, from start to finish - because I'm an event planner too.

I'm proud to be mom to Petey Wheatstraw, "the devil's son-in-law" - the best damn Chihuahua North of Mexico. I grew up in Rochester, Michigan. I currently live deep in the heart of Texas. And boy, do I ever miss Xochimilco Super Nachos, the fragrance of Fall and fresh cider and donuts at Paint Creek Cider Mill, and eating a Detroit Lafayette Coney Island when the mood hits me.

It's cool of you to stop by. And you know what's even better? Finding out what you have to say! Hit me up with a comment. Hang with me on Twitter (three accounts, you choose; @TheCaterHater, @CarloAtYourServ, or @CarloAtYourSer2). Or, connect with me using the FB gadget or G+ button on the sidebar. For real, I'd be honored if you'd click on either one. If you want to ask me anything or want to leave a comment, you know the drill; "Contact".

I like people. Especially, people who want the party truth. Talk to me.
