To D.I.E. For Pizza Dip

dad's pizza dip

No matter when or where I make or take To D.I.E. For Pizza Dip - inevitably, it's the big hit of the night. I've never seen anything like it!

People go crazy at our parties over this pizza dip recipe.

When I was a kid, I would pass on having pizza. I wasn't a big pizza lover - not of traditional pizza, anyway.

Then, one day I figured it out. It was the dried oregano. But you grow up and your tastes change. And now all I can say is...

This is the killer pizza dip recipe of all time!

One serious pizza lover (who I gave the recipe to) calls it: Low-Cal Pizza Dip. She's very weight conscious. She dips in celery sticks and other crunchy, fresh vegetables instead of crackers.

And one more thing...

You might think it's sacrilege to do this, but I've altered the recipe a few times - substituting Parmesan cheese for mozzarella - and it was once again the star of the party!

Once you find out how easy and inexpensive it is to make - and with only 15 minutes of prep time and 15 minutes baking time- you'll never want to order pizza out again.

To D.I.E. For Pizza Dip

(Printable Recipe)
This dish is also known as "Old Faithful"
Serves 10 to 12 people

8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp. dried oregano (heaping tsp., for more flavor)
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 cup your favorite pizza sauce (or 1/2 cup tomato sauce mixed with pizza seasonings)
1/2 of a pepperoni sausage, chopped small (but not sliced), that will equal about 1/2 cup
1/2 cup sliced green onion
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat together the cream cheese, sour cream, oregano, garlic powder and crushed red pepper flakes. Spread into a 9-inch pie pan. Spread the pizza sauce over the top. Sprinkle with the pepperoni, onions and peppers. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the cheese.
Note: Make sure your cheese doesn't end up in one big clump in the middle. Sprinkle cheese evenly over the dip to ensure that it won't bake together, which will make it hard to get the dip out.
Return the dip to the oven and bake for 5 more minutes until golden.

CAUTION: People will hunt you down to get this recipe!

I'm Carlo. And this is my party truth.

I'm an off-premise catering evangelist/outlaw. I'm a passionista. I'm a paradox. I love when a client hires me to oversee their entire event, from start to finish - because I'm an event planner too.

I'm proud to be mom to Petey Wheatstraw, "the devil's son-in-law" - the best damn Chihuahua North of Mexico. I grew up in Rochester, Michigan. I currently live deep in the heart of Texas. And boy, do I ever miss Xochimilco Super Nachos, the fragrance of Fall and fresh cider and donuts at Paint Creek Cider Mill, and eating a Detroit Lafayette Coney Island when the mood hits me.

It's cool of you to stop by. And you know what's even better? Finding out what you have to say! Hit me up with a comment. Hang with me on Twitter (three accounts, you choose; @TheCaterHater, @CarloAtYourServ, or @CarloAtYourSer2). Or, connect with me using the FB gadget or G+ button on the sidebar. For real, I'd be honored if you'd click on either one. If you want to ask me anything or want to leave a comment, you know the drill; "Contact".

I like people. Especially, people who want the party truth. Talk to me.
