The one thing that I know is that I don't know everything.
There are party industry people out there who would never admit that.
What I do know, however, is how to produce a unique party design conceptualizing something new without driving my clients crazy with a bunch of unnecessary fanfare and negative drama.
Do you have a knack for retooling something unique from something old or designing and creating a new party product or trend that most people would want?
If so, it should be no surprise to you - that I want you to be able to pull off and produce a party like I can.
The idea is to learn as much as you can about "party fashions" (party design) and party products and trends - from past to present, and to see what's coming!
Learn everything you can. Read the trades.
Take cues from the very best caterers, and party and event planners around.
That's how I learned... by association... with Hollywood's best people.
Then I started catering parties for myself. The first one was a dinner party for 30 of my friends. Next, a friend asked me to help with (cater) their daughter's high school graduation open house, for 80 to 100 guests. After that, I catered wedding receptions, birthday parties and baby showers. The rest is history.
The key: If you have an unrelenting desire to know and understand your client, and to help them put their heart's desires and dreams for their event together - your star will shine.
Find inspiration from anyone who surrounds you that has great style.
Then ultimately, if you're serious about helping people (because that's what it's really all about) - hang out your shingle (a sign stating that you're in business), and produce wonderful parties with delicious food - along with all of the necessary party accoutrement - and take people from ordinary living into extraordinary lifestyle parties that are so incredibly beautiful that they can't believe that they were able to afford you.
And...
If you have any questions, you can always ask me.

You have a lot of good tips and I appreciate you sharing them. My son was born about 10 months ago and I became a WAHM with my diaper cake business (Rattlecake Diaper Cakes...www.rattlecake.com). I have seen many ups and downs in my first year of business, but working with people like you (party planners) is where I ultimately found success. Thanks again for the tips and I look forward to reading more!
I salute you for taking on a business with a 10 month old son to look after. But, I have a feeling that you're going to be just fine, Michelle. Thank you so much for stopping by. I'll continue to do my best to give you MY BEST, always.
