Yet because of the awful side effects of the economy, you're probably going to do the wrong thing.
You're going to say"no". You're going to give up, play it safe and try to go another route, and give away your best chance to have the greatest party you could have ever had.
Now is the perfect time. Caterers and event planners are either scared to death, going out of business or sitting paralyzed. Their rents are due, prices are better than ever and there's an opportunity waiting for people who are wise to take advantage of getting a super deal.
That should be you.
Why not? Why do you feel the need to say no? Here's the deal:
Currently, "no" is the big advantage. "No" keeps you from any worry, because "no" means no spending, no saving, no risking, no investment, no asking. You might as well say no to all the opportunities to save yourself the trouble of catering and planning your party yourself, no matter how good the deal is - that you could get, right?
Discounts on rental items that you'll end up renting for yourself anyway? No.
Catering service workers for free, saving you from doing all the work (including the clean up)? Nope, it's a gimmick - we don't believe it.
Event planners willing to do the work at cost? No, we'd rather drive ourselves nuts trying to plan it.
Catering and event planning professionals wanting to do some of the work for free just to keep busy? No way, there's got to be a trick to it.
The deal of a lifetime just for you to be the word-of-mouth advertiser for a caterer for free? No, how can I think about asking when my husband, partner, friend or relative won't believe it?
You do this: you make yourself the person in charge of saying no. Anyone who wants to say yes to a fantastic deal that fits within their range of party plans is encouraged to do it now. If you have the money set aside anyway... and the chutzpah, say "yes".
Say it loud and proud and now. Go for it.
If you find out that the value wasn't what you thought it was, move on - there's someone out there offering a sincere deal.
But, if you want to say "no", think about it in a roundabout kind of way - you probably have to ask someone for approval. Because someone will have to help you or you'll do all the work otherwise. "No's " get sent to the front of the line. It's major to get a "no", so think twice before you're sure you want to pass up getting a good deal.
Honestly, it's probably easier to just say yes.
