When you meet with a caterer your first time, have your event strategy mentally mapped out. Or, even better - jot your ideas down beforehand. You may not have all of your plans completely mapped out, but you'll get the ball rolling in the right direction if you've considered whether or not any of your guests have special dietary needs such as food allergy, diabetic, low-carbohydrate, vegan, vegetarian, macrobiotic and raw food concerns - just for starters.
After you've honed in on your culinary options, you'll want to consider your decor; color scheme, floral, room layout, and the like. And if you want things to be as hassle free as possible, you'll hire an event planner to do all of your "dirty work" whisking away your worries - making your live easier, planning a wedding reception or private party for you that might leave you pulling your hair out.
Oh, and don't be shy. Be sure to ask the caterer and event planner that you decide to hire about special offers and deals. Remember, if you don't ask ... they may not offer!
